Re: Firmware update 6.10

This is great, I raised the issue with 0 smoothing on the 5th of Jan but never had any acknowledgement, have just been using dynamic since but prefer to see the raw numbers at times.

Re: Powertap comparison (way off for first few minutes)

Joe, I am curious, are you removing the powerpod after each ride to download the data? When you re-attach the powerpod to the mount are you being careful to place it in exactly the same position eg push the back of the unit down until the square edge is flush and tight against the mount? In your cha...

Re: A couple of PowerPod Questions ( Dynamic Power Smoothing

Can you disable the dynamic smoothing? I have tried editing the profile to use 0 seconds smoothing and this seems to apply a 30 second averaging, I just want to see the raw data.

this should help Dynamic Power Smoothing When you train with power you want your power display to show smooth numbers during long intervals, yet respond instantly to power surges when you sprint. These two, seemingly contradictory demands are perfectly met by Dynamic Power Smoothing, an innovative f...

John you mentioned the following in this thread http://www.ibikeforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=3359 "Also, for some reason the "soloist" profile you copied is NOT a calibrated profile (tilt is "empty")." As I noted above in the screenshot of the profile, the TILT is...

Re: Wind speed output

+1, great idea, I was thinking the same thing. Power balance could work as 50/50 would be considered neutral and then use a scale 50-100 right side as headwind and 50-100 left side as tailwind. You just ignore any number below 50 but very easy at a glance to see if wind was having a negative or posi...

Re: Anticipated troublesome ride conditions?

I have done a comparison between my profile and the profile I extracted from the ride posted above. Overall there is not much difference between them but I did notice in the attached ride the profile does not have a TILT value stored and is showing as empty. Again I am looking for advice from the Ve...

Re: Anticipated troublesome ride conditions?

Having another look and the "Ride ended where it began" actually only contributes about 30 watts average difference to the original file. The "Analyze Route" option on it's own is making the major changes and removes all the power dead spots from the ride. Have attached the TILT ...

Re: Anticipated troublesome ride conditions?

Hi, you mentioned this was an out and back ride, one thing I notice is that the elevation constantly drifts upwards throughout the entire ride. If I go into "analyze route" and select "Ride ended where it began" the software will correct the TILT drift and your numbers look much ...

Re: Mount iBike upside down under the stem?

Just reviving this thread, I have been talking with many of my peers recently and they think a cut down screenless version of the Newton with built in GT firmware would be a winner. The popularity of Strava and it's power estimation features have introduced a whole new breed of rider to power measur...

Re: Attaching Magnet on Rear Disc for TT

Double sided tape will do the trick, much like the 3m tape that comes with the iBike which is used on the stem\bar mounts. There are thinner versions of these tapes as well that are just as strong, they are hard to be remove but can still be cleaned up completely without marking your wheel. I have a...

Re: At long last, the iBike Newton!

After reading Stevel's question, I re-read the Newton description, and it does appear that an ANT+ receiver is built into the Newton. If that is the case, the GT firmware must be for send only. Is that correct? If so, will the new GT firmware still sell for $99? As you can tell, I am trying to figu...

You can see average power for the whole ride but for anything else you need to wait until you download the file to t...

Re: Bad Cal Ride in Mountain Bike

I was able to do the cal ride, after a few instructions from John Haman (Thanks John). After you calibrate everything properly, just lock the suspension (yes just this) and then everything work fine. The reason I suspect from this is that the tilt calibration and my position riding with the suspens...
