Re: iBike Av power differs to download

I think I got it. I get a reasonable number if I use the tweaked profile in the first file I ever attached in this discussion. Now hopefully last questions: You say I'll figure out in due time if the wind scale needs tweaking again. How will I know? And why the out/back ride? What do look for after ...

Re: iBike Av power differs to download

OK so entered my numbers as you said. I weigh 150 lbs and am 68" tall. With those values in the drops I get a CdA of .317. I think I'm good so far. Do I go to the tweaked profile and adjust the wind scale factor to .821 now, or do I wait? If yes, how do I determine whether or not I should chang...

Re: iBike Av power differs to download

If I'm going to use the estimated values, doesn't it make sense to use my real weight and height along with the "drops" option as my ride position?

Re: iBike Av power differs to download

Yes, it makes sense when I read it. But when I try to apply the numbers, I don't see what you seem to be seeing. I open "06_10_2012_1006_2_Miles_CalRide", go to the Crr - Estimated tab and change Crr to .0045. So far so good. Then I go to the Aerodynamic Resistance - Estimated tab, but I s...

Re: iBike Av power differs to download

OK, since it's the first time I'm doing this, I think I need some help. I thought I was just going to re-enter the numbers you gave me to my existing profile, but other things change when I play with the wind scaling factor and crr. One causes the aero coefficient to change, the other causes either ...

Re: iBike Av power differs to download

Fernando, Here's another set of two cal rides. They are done on a different road, but pretty flat and representative of the roads I ride on. Less traffic too. I just replaced my tires with the same kind, and I don't know if it matters enough or not but my original cal ride was done with the same typ...

Re: iBike Av power differs to download

I did two cal rides back to back. I don't know if you had anything in mind when you said do these into .2 mile mark to 1.2 miles, but I chose a portion that was rather flat. On the first one I tried harder than I did on the second one. That might've been a mistake, I don't know. I did "check ca...

Re: iBike Av power differs to download

Sorry to be a pest, but just to make sure that I get this right:
Do I also need to do coast downs? And why do more than one out&back ride? If you adjusted the wind scale as you said, can I just not do that and get consistent results?

Re: iBike Av power differs to download

Fernando, Thank you for taking the time. The only thing that makes me wonder is that when I enter my speed and other parameters (like the 1.3mph tailwind from the analysis during the 10 minute interval) to an online power calculator, I get lower results that are in the 220W range. The reason I kept ...

Re: iBike Av power differs to download

If you don't mind, can you also look at the attached file? Similar problem, so I figured there is no need for a separate post. I guess what bothers me is that on some rides my wattage is right on the dot, same both as I ride and after the download. But on others, like this one, it usually gives me a...

Automatically Analyze Route

Hi all, I have a question on auto analyzing a route. My preference is set to “Automatically Analyze Route” and “Auto Fine Tune”. It looks to me a ride can be re-analyzed if the start and the end points are the same. If I go ahead and use tools -> analyze route, in some cases iBike asks me whether th...

jparker, Thanks for the link. That's exactly what I needed. coachboyd, Then I take it to mean that when tilt calibration is done before a ride, there is no correction made by the iBike after the 5 min time lapse (or maybe there is, but it doesn't matter because the corrected value will be the same a...

Tilt Correction

Hi all, Can anybody please confirm or refute my understanding of tilt correction? When a Gen III unit does a tilt correction after the first 5 minutes of a ride, does it take the tilt value used during calibration and use it as a baseline? If it's going through this process no matter what I do, am I...

I did 10 coast downs and a calibration ride today. But when I tried to download it in iBike3 I got an error message (please see the attached file). Any help from anyone who had a similar problem?

Thanks.

Not riding, but standing still and after waking up the sensor by rotating the wheel. It tries to find speed for a while but apparently it can't.

Yes, I do have Gen3, and I sent the two profiles to iBike. Now, what do I do to pair the unit with the sensors on my second bike (it is already paired with the sensors on my first bike). Enter the setup and wireless configuration screen, change speed and cadence from "paired" to "find...

Re: Pairing the second set of sensors

Fernando, I guess I don't quite understand how this works. I have two different profiles made with my old iBike Pro that I didn't send to the new unit yet. I know they are in the software. Should I send them to iAero now? And what do you mean by "switching to a second profile"? I know I do...

Pairing the second set of sensors

Hello everyone,

I paired my new iAero to one set of sensors, but cannot seem to do another pairing for the second set of sensors. I haven't done any profiling yet, so iAero doesn't have any profiles in it. Is that the problem?

Thanks for your help,

Re: Jumping power values?

Thanks Boyd, I'll do that. For my own information, I have three more questions: 1.How do I embed a profile to a ride file? When open ride files in iBike2, of course it picks up the correct profile, so I have no problems. I assumed when I send a file out the profile goes with it, but I was obviously ...

Re: Jumping power values?

Boyd, I attached the file. No, it wasn't on the order of 100 watts. Maybe it wasn't any different from my other rides, except that when I did 20 min intervals in the past, I remember the numbers being nicely consistent where I was able to work within a plus/minus 5-10 watt range. Anyway, you tell me...

Jumping power values?

On yesterday's ride I was getting power readings that were changing quite quickly and considerably. It would be 150 watts for a moment, than 170, than 130, etc. I don't think I ever noticed that before. I remember reading two possible causes for it: battery or cadence sensor. I checked both and they...

Multiple CD's & OB's ?

If I wanted to create two different profiles for two different positions on the bike, is there any reason why I can't (or shouldn't) do a set of CD's and a 4-mile OB followed by a second set of CD's and another 4-mile OB? Will iBike2 have a problem with it?
Thanks,

New user questions

I recently received my iBike Pro and started having fun with it immediately. As I learn more about it, questions are popping up. Here are some: 1. When calibrating for wind offset, is it O.K. to take the unit off the bike and do it indoors (maybe even in the car) or does it have be connected to the ...
