Newton with a Smart Trainer?

I just upgraded my Cycleops Fluid2 to their Magnus. I see that there are no Smart trainers on the "Trainer List".

Is there a plan in the future to coordinate the Newton with a Smart Trainer? And if so, how does one use the 2 together?

thanks,

Newton gets very hot when 'charging'

I plugged in my Newton today to download a ride but it would not "connect". I tried another cable but still no connection. Then my Mac issued a warning to "disconnect USB device using excessive power" (or similar message). I disconnected it and noticed that the Newton was VERY HO...

Firmware upload question

I've been using my Newton with my indoor trainer all winter and have not found the need to analyze the rides. So when I finally rode outside and analyzed that ride, I was notified that there was new firmware - 4.15 and 4.16. Version 4.16 downloaded and updated...my question is, do I have to also dow...

Re: iBike Newton mount failures

Well, I failed to mention the support. I am very pleased with the level of support that you and your staff provide. Whenever I've had a problem, you guys DID address it, and in most cases, solved the problem.

I appreciate the opportunity to replace my mounts. Please let me know how to do that..

iBike Newton mount failures

I'm not sure which category this should go, but I have 2 bikes that I use my Newton on. In one week both mounts broke! They have been on these bikes for over a year, and suddenly a part of the bottom of the mounts cracked (it's plastic but looks like metal). One of the mounts is the universal mount ...

Combined Speed/Cadence sensor bad AGAIN!

I'm on my 3rd combined speed/cadence sensor! The latest one was purchased in March 2013. It's the cadence that fails each time! I recently rode a tour from San Francisco to L.A. From the first day of the tour, I could not get Cadence to work. Very disappointing! It worked at home before I shipped my...

Re: combo speed-cadence sensor

My setup has been 'set up' for over 2 years and was working... The magnet is just a bit more than a hair from the sensor....so I'm thinking the same - that somehow the cable was damaged....I just don't understand how it could have gotten damaged...it's in an area that is somewhat protected... What's...

combo speed-cadence sensor

My Newton recognizes the SPCD sensor but will not read cadence! Is there a way I can get it to work? Or am I destined to replace it with another one...I've used up 3 or 4 sensors since I've started with the iBike Gen 3...What goes wrong with these? The cadence sensor is connected by a wire to the ba...

Re: Are wireless sensors compatible?

In order for the Newton to read any ANT+ sensor, don't you have to install the GT Firmware upgrade? Otherwise the Newton will NOT pick up the signals from the ANT+ sensor other than the sensor from iBike....This is what I am trying to find out...

Are wireless sensors compatible?

I have a general question about speed - cadence and heart-rate wireless sensors. Is the Newton ONLY capable of receiving signals from IBike Sensors ? Will other manufacturer's sensors work with my Newton? I'm thinking they would if they are all ANT+ capable...Is this correct? For instance, If my spe...

Great, thanks.. You did the right corrections.... Except I WISH my FTP was 200...It's about 156...I'm working at it - or I WAS! I am now riding in the Catskills of NY and the hills are great. Fernando, here are the 2 files...the 4 mile ride was saved as a normal ride...as I had opened it to look at it and saved it after...I didn't realize it would be saved that way...I hope it's still useable as a calride..

thanks,

Re: Get "SPCd Fail" message when loading new profile

Perhaps the Newton is merely doing a scan for the wireless speed and cadence sensors and it failed because it's on your computer and not your bike!

Calibration ride does not "CALIBRATE"

I completed 2 calibration rides of 2 miles and 4 miles. No Cadence reading when riding

I'm using the combo Speed/Cadence sensor and my Newton picks up "SPDCD" (I think that's what it's called), which looks to me like "speed-cadence". But when riding, the bottom readout is "Calories" instead of Cadence... I checked in setup that Cadence is turned "ON&...

I plugged my Newton into my MacBook Pro...While plugged in I went into setup to see if I could tell how much charge there was. At the USER screen I clicked the center button to switch to YES, but I touched the right arrow instead of up or down and now it is stuck with "USER" visible and I ...

Re: You speak, we listen: pre-order options

I see that many wish that a GPS function was available. That would be nice. But I have a simpler wish: How about a compass ? When I ride in a new area with or without a cue sheet, I am always wondering what direction I'm riding in. It's a drag to pull out my iPhone to use that compass... Perhaps in ...

Questions about Coast Downs

I bought a new bike and went thru the process of setting up a new Profile for the new bike. I forgot that the Coast Downs are supposed to be AFTER the Calibration Ride so I did the Coast Downs first. That was mistake #1. I did 8 C-D's but did them in each direction instead of going back to where the...

Re: Testing batteries with a wireless setup

What about the battery in the Head Unit? Should that be replaced once per year as well? I know the iBike checks the battery in the 'computer'. Testing batteries with a wireless setup

I understand the pros and cons of batteries and air temperature as well as the life of these batteries. So far, I've been testing my batteries by putting each one in the iBike unit and clicking to "BATT". Is this the easiest way to test the batteries? This assumes that I (we) don't have a ...

I found the problem! I had washed my bike Saturday in preparation for my Sunday ride. The iPro was not on the mount. It appears that the mount is NOT waterproof!
