Re: Calibrate PP with a Wahoo Kickr Core

Thanks very much John, for the in depth look at my ride. First, Isaac software doesn't appear to provide an average wind speed over a distance, so after some research, and some maths, I wanted to closely replicate your findings. I used the steady cadence part of the stop to stop section, as I know i...

Re: Calibrate PP with a Wahoo Kickr Core

I'll go one better than posting a single ride, I'll post all of them, as they all overestimate by roughly the same amount. https://1drv.ms/f/s!AkvX-bEguFc_i5UkXUZOMPYJ-9HnYg One in particular is probably the best, I was riding home, found a flat spot, did an out and back calibration ride, then pushe...

Calibrate PP with a Wahoo Kickr Core

As I've had a multitude of issues with calibration on the road, (calibration completes but seems about 25% over-reading) I'm now wondering if it's at all possible to calibrate my PP to match my Kickr Core static trainer power.
If so, what would I need to do?

Re: PowerPod over reading on all bikes

Thanks very much John for checking my ride data, and running those calculations. I tried my own calculations, and came up with wildly different results based on minute differences in wind speed, and gradient. You'd expect these to play a factor, but after adding my known and close estimate settings ...

PowerPod over reading on all bikes

My personal struggle with my PowerPod and its accuracy have a well documented, long and jaded history. Very long story short, I've been laboring under the impression that after numerous calibration rides, I'm getting somewhere near accurate results, (in my estimation about 10% out) an example of whi...

Re: How to replace the PowerPod Battery

So, theoretically speaking, if a person didn't want to go through the expense and loss of the unit for 'x' week/s, and knew their unit was well outside of any warranty, could that person use a tool, say a dremmel, to cut the device open along the weld line, with a view to using an epoxy resin to res...

Re: Struggling with the PowerPod

Just to clear up my objections, I posted "Specifically relating to accuracy" not "How much money they made before going bust". This whole 'mini debate' appears to involve me asking a question, and being provided with overtly defensive misdirection (answering questions I didn't as...

How to replace the PowerPod Battery

I read that the PowerPod battery is likely to last for 'years', here's hoping mine does. As it currently takes about an hour to charge, and it's small and light, I have my reservations about how long 'years' will actually be. If at some point in the <distant> future I need to change the battery, wha...

Thanks for that, I'll give it a go next time I encounter it.

Just to confirm, if I just keep riding for example on a commute, and finish in a different place to where I started, will Isaac work with the 'check calibration' feature?

Re: Suddenly un-paired PP

I am confused. You say "they appear to be working now", but then you say Day 1, 2, 3, fine, day 4, nothing. This means that on previous days (1 - 3) the PP was working fine, but also on a previous day to today (day 4 we'll call it) the PP stopped working. So, are things still not working,...

Re: PP calibration too short for Isaac

Thanks John, Now the PP calibration ride is shorter, does that mean I now have to do an 'out and back' calibration ride by holding various buttions, and then do another out and back (non-calibration) ride of at least 1km to check it worked in Isaac? I ask as from memory Isaac seems to specify a ride...

Re: Struggling with the PowerPod

PP Lite is a both-leg power meter (every product we make is). It's AU price is $276. Nice, I wish I'd bought the lite version if it's exactly the same as my PP for half the price. Companies won't sell or release a power meter that does not work? Really? Google these: "Limits", "Brim ...

PP calibration too short for Isaac

If I hold the PP button until it flashes indicating a calibration, then successfully go out on a calibration ride (0-100w) I assume it works, but unfortunately if I try to check it on Isaac, the ride file is too short (I've attempted this three times now, on two different bikes, and the distance is ...

Re: Suddenly un-paired PP

To clarify, I do have three profiles, all of which I've had to go through, and remove the IDs from, then re-pair. This was expected due to my adding new devices to an existing bike. They appear to be working now, but to reiterate, Day 1 - working fine, day 2 - working fine, day 3 - not working no ma...

First, apologies for hijacking the post, I promise I'll stop commenting as soon as I see a counterpoint I agree with. 1) iqsquare does not yet exist. In fact, no one knows if it works; no one has seen any data from it; no one knows its reliability; not a single unit has been shipped; there has not b...

Re: Struggling with the PowerPod

If you have a one-leg power meter (these are the only PMs that are dropping in price), you'll only know it's accurate if you have a frame of reference, which is a both-leg power meter, such as PowerPod. All except the IQ2, which is dual leg, and similar in price to the PP. https://www.iqsquare.com/...

Re: Struggling with the PowerPod

As a fellow PP strugger, I can state that you'll never 'really' know if your power is accurate unless you have a frame of reference such as a DFPM. Although you could argue that if you only have a DFPM, and don't have it calibrated, you'll never know if it's reading correctly either, I doubt you'll ...

Re: Suddenly un-paired PP

Unfortunately, as the previous message eludes to, I'm unable to post any ride file for the period of time the PP wasn't pairing. Possibly due to the fact it wasn't recording. I can however, state that it's 'working' again after plugging it back into my computer. I did manually switch profiles to ens...

Suddenly un-paired PP

As I've been a little prolix in my description in an attemtpt to cover all angles, I've decided to put a very quick overview of the issue at the top, if an answer is discovered or provided, I'll add that too for convenience. Quick overview: My PowerPod is refusing to be detected by my Garmin 800, ev...

1) If you have multiple bike profiles stored on your PP, make sure each profile has a unique speed sensor ID. From what you have posted, I'm worried that you have the same speed sensor ID in your MTB and road bike profiles. If so, PP will not switch--it will continue to use the profile currently ac...

First of all, thanks very much for the information, I have completed some further research on each point, and can hopefully push a bit further into each remaining question... 1) If your Garmin wasn't picking up power, then either your PP was not paired to your speed sensor, or your PP wasn't paired to your Garmin. PP status light is solid green when successfully paired to the speed sensor; did you click PP button to confirm it was solid green? PP won't transmit power in...

Picking up a calibration ride from a standard one...

After adding a new static trainer to the profiles on my PowerPod, then using it on my mountain bike, I've put it back on my road bike. I did about 20 mins of my ride before concluding that my Garmin wasn't going to read anything from the PowerPod, so as I can't turn it off and on, I set it to calibr...

Using PowerPod with a custom static trainer

I have an old static magnetic trainer which broke, so I decided to add a treadmill motor to it, in order to provide resistance. It also happens to be generating power, but for the purposes of this question the power and therefore resistance, will be consistant. I'd like to know if it's possible to '...

GoPro mount types

I hear from other comments that 'not all GoPro mounts will fit the PowerPod', also that machined aluminium is the only recommended type rather than plastic, and finally that there needs to be a flat 'top' to the mount so that when tilted forward, it stops at the same place. With all this in mind, I'...
