Thanks for prompt reply, John.
I thought everything was snug, but it could be that the brake cable nudged the PP which is fighting for space with cross top levers. I moved it a tad inboard, snugged everything again, and will try again. If you don't hear back, it means things are back to normal.

Imaginary Cliffs?
Hi John, Can you help me make sense of the attached ride file from a route I've ridden many times? I've left it unedited, and I do understand that the first 8 minutes of amazing wattages for a 76-year-old really don't put me in Guinness, and I assume that the equally amazing climb in the first 8 min...

Re: Trainer Mode remains On even after setting it to Off
Yay! I set up the outdoor and indoor profiles using John's procedure, where the trainer on / off is set after the relevant profile is active. After four alterations between outdoor / indoor rides, PP has switched itself correctly to either trainer on or trainer off as long as I activated the right p...

Re: Trainer Mode remains On even after setting it to Off
Thanks, everybody, for contributing to the solution of this puzzle. So it seems that if you also change profiles, then the order does matter. First, activate correct profile. THEN, trainer (aka turbo) off or on. Also seems reasonable that in future versions of Isaac the trainer (on or off) parameter...

Re: Trainer Mode remains On even after setting it to Off
Thanks, nicholp1, for taking the time to replicate and document this, which I have experienced too. The only thing I have to add is that my PP did switch successfully to outdoor mode on two occasions after being in trainer mode. The only difference in my procedure was that on those occasions I sent ...

Re: Trainer Mode remains On even after setting it to Off
Really glad I checked this thread out before starting a new one. I have exactly the same problem. The PowerPod somehow reverts to Trainer Mode on an outside ride when I know I have turned Trainer Mode off, and have received the confirmation message stating Trainer Mode is off. It has happened three ...

Re: Indoor vs Outdoor: Best Routine?
Distilled to the essence, John. And speedily. Thanks. I understand the essence as: make peace with the 8 min, call it a warmup, and wave cheerfully at the neighbors. On all outdoor rides, since I'm doing a lot of alternating. Garmin can be ON, but NOT RECORDING until this ritual is over. (In fact if...

Indoor vs Outdoor: Best Routine?
I know from other posts I’m not the only one using PP both indoors (specifically TrainerRoad) and outdoors. (Same bike for both. Indoors, on Kinetic Trainer, with Kinetic's InRide sensor’s data going to TR app, and PP’s virtual power going to Garmin 520, and finally to Garmin’s Connect, which gives ...

Re: What triggers 8 minute recalibration?
Thanks, John. You're quick. Learning that it's a non-zero speed signal that keeps the PP awake and digesting info suggests one more workaround if, like mine, your speed sensor is magnetic: just loosen the spoke magnet and slide it up the spoke. Easier in my case than taking off the PP. Or does the c...

What triggers 8 minute recalibration?
I'll preface by saying I've been using PP for about 6 months and am the whole pretty pleased with it. An unexpected benefit was the indoor trainer feature: the virtual power curve on the PP matches the Kurt Kinetic inRide sensor very well; the Garmin Edge 520 gets both indoor and outdoor data from P...
