Re: Difference Between DFPM and PP
I am traveling now Eurobike. It is going to be difficult to respond quickly to postings. However, please post photos of your PP and mount on your bike. What kind of DFPM do you have? Hi John, The DFPM is a power2max S crank based system. I added a couple of photos--basically using the k-edge alumin...

By way of comparison, here's the PP and DFPM tracking pretty closely:

Difference Between DFPM and PP
Hi John, I'm curious what you think about this. Just got a DFPM on my road bike, and it seems to confirm what I've been feeling for a while, which is that the PP tends to overreport power during periods of high-intensity. Most of the time the PP and the DFPM are in harmony. But when they diverge, it...

Re: Calibration Ride Off; Fixed By O&B In Isaac; What's up?
Hi John, One last quick question: I used my O&B-calibrated ibr to tweak my profile, and now I'm seeing a wind scaling value that I believe may be high. I have the dual mount from K-edge, which if I remember correctly tends to want a value around 1.7. Isaac is suggesting 2.054. The value *before*...

Re: Calibration Ride Off; Fixed By O&B In Isaac; What's up?
Hmm. The weird thing is--I don't see that 7.5 minute dropout from 06:00-13:30 in Garmin Connect or Strava. https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1610163961 Any idea why it's missing in the ibike file? Guessing the PP lost signal from the cadence sensor, but the head unit didn't? Does the PP rea...

Calibration Ride Off; Fixed By O&B In Isaac; What's up?
I did the firmware upgrade, and did the calibration ride. Everything seemed to go well. I was getting somewhat elevated power numbers, but I was doing 5 min VO2max intervals, and didn't expect things to be super-accurate. Today I went out on my second ride post-calibration ride. I was trying to to 1...

Odd PowerPod Behavior
Hi Guys, So I'm using a powerpod I bought last year. After some early issues with the USB port and charging, I was able to get relatively useful information out of it during the summer and fall months. I've been on the trainer over the winter, and today I took the PP out on the road for the first ti...

Re: Setting up PowerPod on a second bike
Do you have two distinct speed sensors--one on each bike? From what I understand the profile is tied to the unique speed sensor for each bike.albafar wrote:I'm stuck with the same issue. Cannot get it to auto select between my two profiles John - any suggestions?

Re: Setting up PowerPod on a second bike
Ok, was able to clean things up a bit with speedracer's instructions: http://www.ibikeforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=93&t=3512&p=19559#p19295 Now I've got: 1: Fuji 2: Wilier 3: Fuji 4: Fuji Looks like there's no mechanism to remove profiles 3 & 4, but I don't suppose that matters. I guess my ...

Re: Setting up PowerPod on a second bike
OK, so based on these instructions, I finally have two profiles. If I go to "Edit Profiles": - Wilier Profile (PP mount) - Fuji Ride Profile (Garmin Dual Mount) Oddly when I go to "Set Active Profile in Newton". The entries are as follows: 1: Fuji Profile (Garmin Dual Mount) 2: F...

Re: Video: setting up PowerPod on a second bike
"Select Profile 3 (or profile 2 if you're using a Garmin/PowerPod combo mount). Then, disconnect PP from Isaac." This is the kind of stuff that drives me nuts. I've got an existing profile. I go to "Device -> Set Active Profile in Newton". My original profile shows up as Profile ...

Re: PowerPod Readings Jumping Around - Mount?
Hi John, Just wanted to let you know I finally got my "real" bike out on the road today, and got the best looking numbers I've seen yet. So I think the issue had something to do with the mount on the 26.0mm bars. Sadly, the unit has stopped talking to the computer, so it looks like I'm hav...

Re: My 1st Experience and some Questions/Issues
Unfortunately, as of this morning, my PP no longer talks to the computer. Pressing the button and holding it for 10 seconds to force a factory reset does not help. I think there may be a loose connection in the USB port on the PP. If i press slightly on the USB cable, i can hear the connection soun...

PowerPod Won't Connect
Two different cables--when I plug the PP in, no lights activate on the unit. The Isaac software can't connect either. If I hit the button on the PP, the green light flashes for a bit, but then turns off.
Any ideas?

Re: PowerPod Readings Jumping Around - Mount?
Hi John, Right, if you look at 10.75 to 11.5 of that ride, it says I'm on about a -5% slope. In real life, that's completely flat though. The corresponding Strava activity for that ibr file is here: https://www.strava.com/activities/548514974 I attached two snippets of the ibr file, one from 4/16, t...

Re: PowerPod Readings Jumping Around - Mount?
This one is looking a bit more reasonable, but still the numbers seem abnormally high, even discarding the first 1.5 miles as calibration. One thing I notice if I set the smoothing to 30 sec is that I jumped onto the draft of a big tour bus at around mile 10.5, and for some reason the PP interpreted...

Re: PowerPod Readings Jumping Around - Mount?
I'm starting to wonder if my PP would benefit from a hardware reset too. Went out today to try and do a power-based workout I had uploaded to my Garmin, and it was pretty much impossible given that the power readings were jumping around so much. First of all, I spent the first 8 minutes of the ride ...

Re: PowerPod Readings Jumping Around - Mount?
Probably obvious to others, but I just discovered the beauty of "scaling" in the ISAAC software. By default it was set to 3 seconds, which is why the power graph was looking like an almost random set of spikes. Setting it to :30 seconds and things look much, much nicer.

Re: PowerPod Readings Jumping Around - Mount?
Sorry to keep hammering away with the questions, but I pulled up the profile in Isaac w/ "Edit Profile" and I noticed - the bike weight was 11 lbs (probably closer to 20) - Wind Scaling is 1.038; I think you mentioned somewhere that handlebar mounted wind scaling should be 1.4, and dual mo...

Re: PowerPod Readings Jumping Around - Mount?
Hi John, I went back and used some hard rubber shims, and it looks like things are pretty solid. Definitely not getting any rotation of the unit now. I did a lunchtime group ride to see how the power readings would look. It looks like the wattage numbers are very "spikey". I'm seeing peaks...

PowerPod Readings Jumping Around - Mount?
Hey Guys, I received my PowerPod yesterday, and took it out for the first time today. On my commute in to work, I followed the calibration instructions, and watched the power count-up to 100 on my Garmin. Things *seemed* to be normal: reasonable wattage on the flats, 0w while descending a big hill. ...
