riding with DFPM and file export

Hi, I've borrowed a DFPM from a buddy and it's working fine on the Newton as well as reviewing the data in Isaac. The question I have is how to control which data is saved in the .csv for exporting to Trainingpeak etc, (DFPM data vs Newton data)? The reason I'm asking is the numbers are different an...

Re: Newton w/GT + Garmin + Stages DFPM

Thanks John, that makes sense. And I didn't know about the merging of files, so that's great to hear. Will I have the option of selecting either DFPM or Newton power #'s? Unfortunately, they are vastly different.

Newton w/GT + Garmin + Stages DFPM

Today I got my paws on a friend's Stages to check the calibration of my Newton. Prior to this, I've had my Newton broadcasting the power numbers to my Garmin 510. Never an issue. Today with the Stages on, my Newton picked it up just fine. When I uploaded my Garmin data, there was no power info at al...

Check calibration

Hi, Just so I'm clear, when you go to check calibration, the original is the profile in the device during the ride, and the estimated is new calculation? And also, can the check calibration be done on a Cal Ride, or should it be done on a subsequent ride? I've done it on Cal Rides and I'm always a b...

I'm having problems downloading my last 2 rides stored on my Newton. Isaac shows all the other rides that have been downloaded and not deleted except the last 2 I'm looking for. Even when I go into "show download window" to select the individual rides to download 1 at a time, the rides don...

Labview: Memory is full (REVISITED)

I'm getting the "Labview: Memory is Full" message still. It seems to happen after a 0km ride ends up on the Newton. This usually occurs after a ride in the rain. Anyway, is there a fix in the works? Just wondering if it's a Newton or an Isaac thing. I'm attaching 2 screenshots of the messa...

Repair ride for missing cadence

I had my cadence sensor come loose during a race. I've tried highlighting the section without cadence data, but it gave some pretty over the top power figures. It's almost as though it ignores the wind. I just wonder if I'm doing something wrong.
Thanks.

Wind scaling

I have a quick question about wind scaling. If you're in profile, and a wind cal is required for whatever reason, is that wind scaling value applied to the profile or the unit?
Thanks.

Re: Blocked wind port doing the opposite!?!

Thanks John! And thanks for the description. That makes a lot more sense to me now.
Have you or anyone you know tried a sort of rain deflector over the front of the ibike? Something far enough away to allow air in but still keeps the rain out? I know the air tube extension helps out with this.

Blocked wind port doing the opposite!?!

Hi, I've brought this up before with 0 feedback, so I'm revisiting it. My understanding of a blocked wind port, is it essentially mimics (and accentuates) the effect of riding in bunch: the measured wind decreases thus recorded power drops. My Newton has been known to the do the complete opposite: p...

Re: "Labview Memory is full."

Thanks Russ.
All that popped up was possibly having 0km rides on the Newton or freeing up virtual memory. The latter means nothing to me, so moving onto the former. I tried uploading from the device 1 ride at a time, then got a new message, which is attached. Essentially, still not working.

"Labview Memory is full."

I was downloading a ride from my Newton to Isaac, and I got this message plus a lot of other hi-tech speak. In the end, the rides were lost and didn't make it into Isaac. I've attached 2 screen shots with the messages I received before I clicked OK and the message after I clicked OK. My question is,...

Blocked wind port

In my experience last year with my Newton, riding in the rain always resulted in much lower power numbers. Recently, I've had the opposite happen: power numbers go through the roof!! I can't understand why. Does anybody have any ideas?

Re: Friction values

I have to admit, that the numbers do seem ok when riding. My only concern was the major change in the friction and tilt values between the first cal ride (April 13) and the recent cal ride (May 5). Tilt has gone from -0.9 to 0.5. The Newton position on the stem has not changed at all. Tires have not...

Re: Friction values

Ok, so what I've done here is posted the cal ride BEFORE weird stuff started happening, and then 2 after (to show consistency). All of these were done in perfect conditions (quiet roads, no wind changes, no drafting, out and back course, good cal wind done, tire pressure checked beforehand, Newton i...

Friction values

I've had the Newton for about a year now. I recently bought a new stem (went from 6 degree to 17 degree angle) so I did a new cal ride and everything seemed fine. Then one day I started riding and the numbers weren't right. Stuff like 300W on a flat piece of road when the heart rate is at 120 and yo...

I finally was able to get out on the road last week. I used the same profile stored in Profile 1 (P1) that I had used last fall. The first few rides, no problems at all. Then, one morning I turned the Newton on, and I got "Do Cal"/"------" showing on the screen. I hadn't touched ...

Using the ibike provided spd/cad sensor with Garmin 500

I have the Newton with the GT firmware upgrade so that my Garmin can get the power numbers. To my pleasant surprise, it also gets the rpms! I use GPS for speed and distance on the Garmin. I recently tried using the ibike provided speed/cadence sensor with the Garmin. The Garmin recognizes the sensor...

I'm bit unclear with the instructions for the Snapshot CdA. Step 3 says "Select the power window on your Newton Screen". I'm not exactly sure what the "power window" is. Can anyone guide me a bit further here? I see there is the CdA on/off in the racer menu. Is that it? Thanks in...

Fernando, Here is the last Cal Ride I did. I would say I've done about 15 so far since having the Newton. They all generally have had some values relatively close to one another. This last one though, I had concern with I find the friction value to be about double what the all the other have had (ge...

Thanks for the insight guys. Fernando, I've attached 2 rides. One (06_15_2013) where I specifically went and rode fairly hard over the top and down the other side of a hill. Around 19km, you can see the large spike. And the Newton is on the bar. Then the other (06_18_2013) where I was going moderate...

Crazy high power on descents

After many months of wrestling with cal rides and profiles and seeming to get really wonky power numbers, I decided to cave and just use a quick start profile. Once I did, everything seemed about right and I was happy with the numbers. Except for one thing: descents. If I'm pedalling, the power numb...

I had a factory profile emailed to me. I uploaded to my device and attempted a Cal Ride. I didn't do anything to the profile before uploading. Does anyone have any suggestions for attempting to clean out the wind port on my Newton? Seems I've been doing alot of riding and racing in the rain. Where's there's rain, there's grit.
