AeroPod, PowerPod and Newton

I purchased the Newton+ direct from Velocomp in November 2012. This past week I have noticed the battery discharges within a few hours of being fully charged when not in use or even turned on. Very frustrating, I've tried a hard reset but still discharges. Please help, I need this working in 5 weeks...

Thanks for your assistance Velocomp. I have one more question. Can the power data from the Newton be sent directly to my Garmin 910xt? If not how easy is it amend power info in Training Peaks file after i download my Garmin file?
