Help! Can't get ride data...

So I had my first "race" this past weekend. Savageman Triathlon. My iAero was very handy in guaging my long ascents etc. But now I can't get my ride data! I don't know if I should be freaking out yet or not, so I will stay calm. Anyhow, I did all my normal things, offset etc. As soon as I ...

Coast downs, Part 2

Sorry for the double post but I had posted this as a reply to my original thread below and it seemed like maybe nobody noticed. I just wanted some feedback Ok, I got another coastdown and ride this weekend. On a local MUP so a bit more sheltered and controlled. I did a tilt calc and wind offset imme...

Re: Adjusting slope question

-D, Change in weather will make the barometric pressures not line up on an out and back. It doesn't have anything to do with tilt, which uses a different device for tracking slope of the road. I understand in the case of an out and back. But I am talking in the case of an out, without the back. -D

Adjusting slope question

I was just curious, as I am a major newbie still with my ibike. I have noticed that on some rides when I play around with the tilt calc everything looks good. But other rides, Ones that don't end where they began, like a one way trip, that the tilt then seems messed up. Am I correct in the assumptio...

Ok, I got another coastdown and ride this weekend. On a local MUP so a bit more sheltered and controlled. I did a tilt calc and wind offset immediately prior to the ride. I got 7 coastdowns and then my 4 mile ride. I got the following numbers Aero 0.362 Fric 5.958 Cda .380 Crr .0040 Seem better?

Re: Ok so I finally got some coast downs...

funny I was editing my reply while you added yours. See above Your tilt looks good... only .05% off. So this is with a tilt correction of zero? Most people seem to be getting around -.5% for a tilt correction (difference between riding tilt and the unladen tilt cal). If it stays this good on subseq...

Re: Ok so I finally got some coast downs...

If I had to guess I'd put your tires close to .006 on Crr. The Fric number combines the tilt correction and the Crr since they are physically identical. What is your tilt adjustment? It is possible that this is off. For instance if your tilt is off by .1% this is identical to a .001 change in Crr. ...

Re: Ok so I finally got some coast downs...

Hmm, Dunno if it matters but my fric number was 1.45 The reason I was curious is that my first real ride with the ibike after doing my CD's and 4 mile ride seemed to have better power numbers than I expected. Not that I know what to expect. I just know that currently I am in lousy shape. I am runnin...

Re: Ok so I finally got some coast downs...

As it states in the manual, you can put it on the "coast" screen and see what your power is while coasting. Ideally it should be close to zero. Also, look at how much scatter you got in the CDs... wildly varying values aren't a good sign. Another check is to look at your CdA and Crr value...

And a 4 mile ride. How can I tell if it is any good? This is my first foray into power so I don't know what at all to expect.

Re: Newbie Rant

Ok, i just finished reading through the manual again while having the ibike in my hand. Now I understand the screens. Of course I feel more stupid too. All i needed to do was hit the center button once more and I would have seen the trip mileage. Oh well. Yesterday was a bit too blustery for good co...

Re: Newbie Rant

Fernando. Thanks. I am sure it was user error. I did the tilt and wind offset and that was good. I was at least able to see the tilt was pretty in line with the Garmin. cadence and HR worked fine. and when I got back I had the ride on the system and downloaded to the computer. So I have data. And I ...

Newbie Rant

Sorry everyone. And thanks in advance for letting me rant. Now, this isn't against Velocomp, they have been great. Nor is it really about the iAero exactly. Just my overall frustration. So from the beginning. I got my iAero like 1.5 weeks or so ago. It took me a couple days to get everything setup, ...

Re: unable to get a pair-iAero G

Just thought I would post a followup. Initially John accidentally sent me a replacement USB adapter. Today my replacement wireless mount came in. I ran down the driveway, into the basement, ripped open the box and tried it out.

BINGO. Paired up on the first try.

Re: unable to get a pair-iAero G

Then I'm faulting the WLS head. You could download v1.31 from the website. It is a generic firmware for use with ibike speed and cadence sensors. If you have those you could try them. Be sure you have 1.91 as a file saved on your computer, not just loaded into the iAero. You will want to put that i...

Re: unable to get a pair-iAero G

Do you get the WLS FAIL message almost immediately or does it seem to take 20-30 seconds to get WLS FAIL? If you get the message right away (less than 5-10 seconds) then the problem is probably the wireless head. If it takes a very long time, the the problem may be the firmware may not have install...

Re: unable to get a pair-iAero G

1) What firmware version do you have? 2) In WLS Setup do you have SPCD on? I know you have to ask the simple questions first (I have to do the same in my job). I don't have the unit handy at the moment, but I am pretty much positive it is the latest. I just got the unit this week. I want to say lik...

unable to get a pair-iAero G

Hey gang. I just got my device this week. I have been very excited to get going this weekend and have been attempting to get things paired this evening. Needless to say I am frustrated. I have watched the video and read the instructions several times. Every time I try I am getting a wireless fail. H...

Re: New iAero user. Initial thoughts and questions

Yea I am considering moving the garmin to the right side. Time will tell. As far as the cable, I just don't like the whole thing hanging, with the weight (albeit light) being supported by the usb port. Either way it is a minor nitpick. I finally got the ibike working with my desktop (XP) although my...

New iAero user. Initial thoughts and questions

Hey all, I am an excited new iAero user. I got it in the mail 2 days ago. Unfortunately this week has been hectic so I just got it mounted tonight. My initial thoughts. -It is tiny! You don't appreciate the size in pictures. I am impressed. - the screen seems strangely inset. I would have expected i...

Re: Riding in different positions

It'll be a mail-in replacement. We'll offer CPU only plus other options. John is building them all next week to prepare. Look for the announcement about availability roughly EOM. Ah, so not necessarily a whole new device. Same ibike (at least externally) but newer guts. I have been impressed at how...

Re: Riding in different positions

Richard, Since you are spilling beans, just curious, but is the upcoming ibike aero a new device or an upgrade to an existing ibike? The Aero is a different iBike, but it'll work with all existing mounts, etc. If you want to upgrade to the Aero, we'll have that option available to current owners. I...

Re: Riding in different positions

No, we're releasing an iBike AERO in a few weeks. We'll be COMPATIBLE with Quarq, but we will be merging the data from the two meters to do things unimaginable in any other product combo. Compatible as in it will work? Or "it will work with a paltry $150 firmware upgrade"? Sorry couldn't ...
